Alex Wootton

Accounts

Junior accountant Alex is studying for his final AAT exams with aspirations of advancing onto studying for his ACCA. His main roles are preparing sole trader and smaller limited company accounts, bookkeeping and preparation & submission of VAT returns.

Ben Kay

Accounts

Ben is a semi senior at our Dinnington office and prepares accounts and VAT returns. Ben is currently studying ACCA.

Claire Chapman

Accounts

Claire joined as a junior in 1997 and has over 25 years accountancy experience with Brearley and Co. Claire has worked her way up to a senior position within the accounts team, preparing monthly/quarterly management and year-end accounts. She also helps with QuickBooks and Sage bookkeeping alongside our clients.

David Burgin

Accounts

David is part of the accounts team and is responsible for a large portfolio of Limited Company clients, preparing year end accounts, management accounts and VAT returns. He also assists with helping clients improve their internal accounting systems.

Diane Allen

Accounts

Diane is based at our Barnsley office, with over 16 years’ experience. Diane processes client’s payroll, auto enrolment, pension assessment and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) submissions at our Barnsley office and oversees all Company Secretarial for Barnsley clients.

Elise Makia

Accounts

Elise has over 6 years' experience and is AAT qualified and is now studying for the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Elise prepares all types of accounts, VAT (Value Added Tax) Returns, and does a bit of bookkeeping as well as preparing tax computations for sole traders and limited companies.

Elizabeth Rawlins

Elizabeth is responsible for a portfolio of clients preparing year end accounts, management accounts, VAT returns, Bookkeeping, and tax returns. Training & helping clients with queries relating to accountancy software. AAT 2 & 3 qualified

Katie Cotton

Katie is part of the accounts team and prepares clients’ accounts, tax computations and VAT returnsShe also deals with Sage bookkeeping.

Kyle is a semi senior at our Dinnington office. Kyle has recently completed his AAT and will soon be studying for his ACCA

Leanne Keyworth

Accounts

Leanne is ACCA qualified and responsible for a large portfolio of clients preparing year end accounts, management accounts, VAT returns and reviewing sole trader accounts and tax returns. Provides advice on tax planning matters and helps with queries relating to accountancy software.

Lee Rendle

Accounts

LLee is a partner in the firm and looks after our Dinnington office. He has a portfolio of clients on his list, which is managed by his experienced team. His key role is managing the accounts staff at Dinnington and that of reviewing their work and having regular meetings with clients, to discuss various aspects of their business. This can include compliance meetings, tax planning, company structure planning, exit planning or anything else a client may wish to go through.

Melanie Holmes

Melanie is part of our accounts team based at our Barnsley Office, she assists in the preparation of accounts and has been part of the Barnsley team since 1991

Meloney Dargie

Accounts

Meloney joined Brearley & Co from her senior position at PKN and has over 18 years accountancy experience as well as having a period running her own accountancy business.

Rhian Cooper

Accounts

Rhian is an experienced Senior Accounts Clerk working with some of Brearley & Co’s largest clients preparing Year End, Management Accounts and helping them with tax planning. Rhian enjoys supporting junior members of the business and working with Clients on QuickBooks and Xero.

Steven Millerchip

Accounts

Steven works in the Accounts team dealing with preparation of management and year end accounts, monthly accounting reports, inclusive ratios etc..He also deals with bookkeeping advice and systems, manual or computerised.

Tim Schofield

Tim is an accounts senior managing a small portfolio of Limited company clients. Dealing with preparation of Year End Accounts, Quarterly VAT Returns prepared & submitted, Monthly Book-keeping on Sage & Quick-books, Quarterly Management Accounts and 9 Month Interim Accounts. He is also responsible for reviewing Sole Trader Accounts by other members of staff. Reviewing of Limited Company Accounts prepared by other staff members. Self-Assessment Tax Returns for sole traders & individuals

Emma White

Reception

Emma covers reception at both the Mexborough and the Dinnington offices. She also does general admin duties.

Helen Johnson

Admin

Helen is a part-time receptionist at our Swinton office, meeting and greeting visitors and clients, also answering telephones, and dealing with general typing duties. Helen files Confirmation Statements for clients with Ltd Companies.

Helen Thompson

Admin

Helen is our receptionist at our Dinnington office and joined the Admin Team at Brearley’s in 2018. She deals with all aspects of admin and secretarial duties.

Joanne Rayner-Johnson

Admin

Joanne is our Senior Partner Support, supporting the senior partners in carrying out their day-to-day duties. This is in addition to overseeing the administration function of the business. She is also one of the Firm’s Mental Health Advocates, having gained a Mental Health First Aid qualification.

Nicola Sheppard

Admin

Nicola carries out all aspects of Company Secretarial work for our clients. Incorporating Limited Companies and dealing with any changes within the companies at Companies House with regards to share structures, directorships etc. Nicola also oversees the onboarding of new clients, the upkeep of our database and client records, the running of reception, typing, company post, our filing systems, and archiving.

Susan assists with Business Development and deals with all of our marketing and events, and manages our website and social media platforms.She also deals with the administration of our Fee Protection service.

Lisa heads up the Credit Control Department and is in charge of the company Sales ledger. Collecting fees from clients and helping clients with payment plans they may need to put in place to pay these fees.

Emily Patching

Payroll Manager & Tax Assistant

Emily joined Brearley & Co in 2018 and is now Head of Payroll managing the payroll team across the company. Emily also works in the tax department completing self-assessments, Corporation Tax returns and P11d’s.

Joanne Roberts

Joanne joined our payroll team in May 2022 and has the best part of 30 years of payroll experience in various different roles, her last role being payroll manager for a group of companies.

Andrew Cowe

Senior Tax Manager

Andrew joined Brearley & Co in 2016 as Senior Tax Manager and specialises in Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance tax, along with business and personal tax. Andrew also provides bespoke tax-efficient advice

Ben Wingate

Tax

Ben joined Brearley & Co as a tax junior in 2007 and is now our Assistant Tax Manager. Ben oversees the preparation of personal and corporation tax compliance work and is also involved in tax planning, HMRC investigations and other ad hoc tax work. He is CTA qualified.

Casey-Jo Ezeldine

Tax

Casey joined our Brearley’s team in 2020 and splits her week working in our Personal Tax Department and with our Payroll Team. Casey has passed her Level 3 AAT Qualifications. Whilst working in Tax she deals with Self-Assessment and Corporation Tax Returns and runs the P11D submissions for the department each year. For the Payroll Team, Casey processes client’s payroll, auto enrolment, pension assessment and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) submissions.

Gillian McDonald

Gill joined our Tax Department in 2020 after twelve years as a Tax Advisor with BHP in Sheffield. Gill has over 25 years' experience working in Personal Tax and currently manages a tax return portfolio of over 400 clients.

Laura Brearley

Laura has been part of the Brearley & Co team for 22 years and is part of our tax team based at the Swinton office. Laura works within tax compliance covering Self-Assessment tax, Corporation tax and P11D’s.
