The Role

Brearley & Co are a leading firm of accountants with offices based throughout the South Yorkshire region. We provide a wide range of accountancy services to a highly varied client base, including statutory accounting, audit, management accounting, bookkeeping, tax and payroll.

We are offering an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious 2025 A Level student to join our team as an Accounting Apprentice.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Accounting Apprentice position will be based in our Barnsley office and will offer an excellent platform to develop all round accountancy skills, whilst studying AAT

Duties will include:

  • Preparation of accounts for a highly varied client base
  • Bookkeeping
  • Preparation of VAT
  • Assist with client audits
  • Preparation of tax computations
  • Working on a variety of accountancy-based software packages, including CCH, Sage, Quickbooks and Xero

Skills and Qualities

To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will be educated to a high standard with a GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English grade 4/C or above and 3 A level grade C or above. Individuals must be confident in nature and have the ability to deal with a variety of individuals.
